Denis Côté was born in New Brunswick in 1973. Initially a journalist and film critic, he was vice president of the AQCC from 2001 to 2005. At the same time, Denis Côté finished his first feature film in 2005, entitled The Nordic States. The film won the Golden Leopard video award at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland and then toured the festival circuit. Carcasses (2009) was presented at the Directors' Fortnight in Cannes in 2009. He is interested in themes of loneliness, intimate fears, and alienation in documentaries and fictions that confront and question cinematographic language. His films have been seen in more than twenty retrospectives around the world. Côté is also responsible for Curling, Bestiary, Vic+Flo Saw a Bear, Lost Cities Directory and Wilcox.
