Theatrical release of the film After the Ashes

Laetitia Demessence's first film After the Ashes hits theaters on May 29, 2026!

Les mains sales films and La Distributrice de films are pleased to announce the theatrical release of After the Ashes, the first feature film written and directed by Laetitia Demessence. The film had its world premiere at the CINEMANIA Film Festival and its international premiere at the Beijing International Film Festival, and stars performing artist and choreographer Diana León in her first leading film role. She shares the screen with Francis Ducharme, Louise Bédard, and Martin Dubreuil in this fantasy drama, which opens in theatres on May 29.

Synopsis: Leonor joins a contemporary dance company to unravel the mystery of Oraison, a mythical piece performed by her mother thirty years ago, in the hope of understanding what shattered her. She discovers a ritual in which every gesture summons up the ghosts of the past and reopens the wounds of a lineage.
