Marie-Hélène Turcotte
Quebec

Born in 1971 in Joliette, Quebec, Marie-Hélène Turcotte has lived and worked in Montreal since 1998. Trained in architecture, she completed a master's degree in visual arts at Concordia University in Montreal in 2018. She now shares her artistic practice between drawing and animated cinema. His drawings are line by line, combining the intuitive evolution of a line. They are emergencies, microcosms, universes and phenomena. The animation, their setting in motion, reveals their poetic potential, their internal structure and the experiential nature of their production. Mr. Carreaux is his third animated film combining drawing and live action, preceded by If and the Lost Red and The Formation of Clouds made at ONF. His last two films have been warmly received by critics and screened at several national and international festivals, winning awards and distinctions, including the Golden Horseman Animated Film, Best Animation Film, FILMFEST Dresden, Germany.
