Synopsis

A super 8 experimental documentary of the different spiritual practices of Makuta’ay, from Daoist ritual possession to memories of past Amis sorcerers. Shot on location in the traditional Amis territory on the east coast of Taiwan.

Her practice investigates various forms of divinatory art and traditional tales, with a particular focus on oral history and popular religions. Lin lives and works in Montreal. His first film, “The Spirit Keepers of Makuta'ay”, premiered at the Berlinale and toured several festivals around the world.
